TII trans shortening

someone in another thread mentioned that you can take almost 7 inches off of the trans overall lenght. i have searched everywhere for this and cannot find a single thread even mentioning this. the only reason i ask is because i am swaping a peripheral ported 13b with a TII trans into my AE86 corolla and the engine and trans combo is a bit too long. can anyone please help?

If the trans has a removable tail cover you might be able to shorten it, but you'd need a different/modified output shaft. Otherwise I don't see that being possible. Removable bell housing or not you'll still need that room for the clutch.
