TII swap alternator problem

I just swapped in a TII...but now I cant find my alternator plugthat goes behind the alternator...

Where does it come from a an N/A S4? From the engine wiring harness? Because I cant find it on the battery wiring harness.

What do I do?!

Go to RotaryResurrections site and READ it.

On the whole only a foolish person uses a turbo EM harness on a non turbo car. He should use the original n/a harness which requires only one wire change for the twin scroll and if foolish another two for the knock sensor.

IF you installed the Turbo EM harness you have other issues other than the alternator plug. You now have a constant 12vdc on a boost sensor output wire to the ECU pin 2B, probably no water temp gauge action and heck I forget the other wire foulups using a Turbo EM harness on a n/a car.

Go to Rotary Resurrections site and READ it on turbo engine swaps.

ABout the alternator. It NEEDS a SWITCHED 12vdc for one wire of the jack on the alternator and the other wire needs to end up going to the CPU. See the FSM wiring manual for the exact location on the CPU. It shouldn't be hard to find. I think it's a white/black wire on the CPU plug.

What you might be not understanding, is that the EM harness not only interfaces with the ECU but also interfaces with the FRONT harness via two large ORANGE plugs. Those ORANGE plugs are not pinned the same on a n/a as on the Turbo EM harness which results in thing not working right.

I've piddled my time in the past writing about this subject. Do a Search using my name plus the terms X-16 or X-15 should end up with several threads where I tried to explain what a persone SHOULD do if he puts a Turbo EM harness on a non turbo car.

The alternator harness in an S4 NA is in with the Engine harness.

Unlike a TII, where it is in the driverside harness (correct me if I'm wrong)

Those two ORANGE plugs have a name. One is called X-15 and the other X-16. They also have an alias in some manuals and are colled FEM-01 or FEM-02 respectively.

Their pictues are attached from the manual. See in the top left of the jpgs where it tells you those letters with the (xxxx) are for the turbo car???? So anytime you see the ( ) you know the turbo car has wires of a differnt color there which in turn means that pin has a different function than the n/a.

There's a number of ( ) on those two plugs.

The original wires going to the alternator are the BW and the WB ones on the X-15 plug.

Sorry, the turbo EM harness has no alternator wires at all. On a turbo the alt wire are a part of the engine harness. Note: the EM harness is not the engine harness. The engine harness runs on the left side of the engine and goes to junk like the coils etc.
