TII smokes on hard left turns
My 88 TII has been smoking ALOT when I hit a hard left hand drift. It does NOT smoke at all hitting a right hand drift. The smoke isn't from my tires, but smells almost like oil. I don't seem to be leaking any oil from under the car (diff). My question is why would I be smoking while drifting one way and not the other? MOP? Would my turbo be getting some oil blow by and burning that up? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

hahaha
.. its not funny but its wierd and annoying.. ok here is the dealy i have had my car do this a couple times... it was the turbo....... two different turbos... i put a brand new one on and it doesnt do it.. the old ones were both used and abused i have a bnr upgrade now.. so i think you make have to just live with it for a while. because both of my turbos worked fine.. but they would smoke in corners 17 year old stuff does dumn things... or if you are tired of the smoke.. get a new turbo. i had to finally get a new turbo after the seals went bad.. smoked like hell at idle and corners.

K, that's what I was starting to think, turbo. It spools great, and doesn't smoke at idle though. Damnit, don't have money for a new turbo. Will it hurt anything to continue to run with it like this?

The early T2 oil pans didn't have oil diverters to keep the oil from sloshing around. What is happening is the oil is going to one side of the pan and it isn't allowing the turbo to drain oil. The oil level in the turbo gets higher than a piston ring gap on the turbine wheel and then the oil enters the exhaust system...
