TII rebuild

What do you guys think of using S5 TII plates and S4 TII housings on a rebuild? No knock sensor installed. Can you get a aftermarket one and install it somewhere? Just wondering.

the only thing you'd need to worry about is the lack of EGR port for smog, aside from that the S5 rotor housings are more durable and last longer than S4 ones so why use S4's? the knock sensor can be threaded into the center iron as it sits in the S4 model engines.

I'm using S5 side plates.. don't the knock sensor come from the rotor housings on S5 TII's? I thought they did?? I already have a excellent set of S4 housings that are ported..

you can probably try to install stock knock sensor onto S4 housings, drill and tap

ewww, there's no place thick enough to drill and tap S4 rotor housings without going into the water jacket, you could go all the way to th jacket and seal up the threads with sealant but that just doesn't sound like a good idea to me. although the S4 knock sensor was located in the middle iron it wasn't nearly as effective as mounting it on the rotor housing but they put it in the front which the rear was the first to detonate since it runs hottest, go figure... but the middle iron is a good alternative to rigging anything up.

as far as i remember the E6K doesn't even utilize a knock sensor but may have an input for one as an alt.
