What are the differences between the Series 4 (pre '89) and Series 5 (post
89) TII manifolds? Will both work on a series 5 motor as far as emissions go?

The only difference is that the 89+ manifold does not have twin scroll, and that it is a true divided manifold. If you want to use an 89+ manifold on an 86-88 car, you will need the 89+ turbo as well. And vice versa. Should not matter for emissions.

Do you have to use an the later turbo on the later manifold? I would think the housing would be similar and have the same bolt pattern. I want to disable my twin scroll crap and mount an external on a stock manifold. Also if an 86-88 turbo will mount to an 89-91 manifold...I'd be interested in buying said manifold. Thanks guys.
