TII Engine Swap

i want to do a TII engine swap into my 87 gxl. Does anybody know of a place in Queens or at least the NYC area to do the complete swap. About how much will it cost and what would i need to buy for the swap besides the engine itself? What would be a good estimate of down time having it installed and about how much would the labor costs be. Anybody know of an on-line wendor that sells the complete changeover?

Emm u need the whole T2 drivetrain and the ecu, harness, etc better off buying a TRASHED TII and transfering everything over to the car that is good. You can always buy a TII motor and run a Haltek ecu, and harness only leaving you with needed the entire drivetrain and exhaust....don't know what to tell you im too trashed....

I have a 88 GXL with the TII swap!
But hey how much are you willling to spend?
got the cash? then a whole engine/ drivetrain swap is good

But this is what I did
I took the flywheel and front counterwieght of my GXL and put it on the TII motor
that way I keep my current drivetrain

besides engine,harness,and computer
you will need or make sure you have
Turbo boost sensor
selonoid resister
and a TII accelerator cable
mazda sells it for under $40 new
youll also need to do a Turbo exhaust system
a downpipe welded to your current exhaust if thats your
wish or a new system

The price :
estimates from diffrent shops
was $500
to take out your old motor
and put in the new one

Marco acosta the 20B MX3 is from NYC (i think)
he must have a shop there too
check him out

13.9@101
intake
mild ported motor
high flow exhaust
no other mods
Not even a Turbo II hood for my Top Mount

Kabooski, thats really interesting. Especially the part about swaping the flywheel and counter weight. I've got a turbo engine that I've just bolted together, pans not even on yet much less the flywheel and counter weight. I have a ecu, knock sensor and a complete turbo exaust and transmission. I was going to have a driveshaft made to fit the differential. The harness I was and am going to string wire to the engine. I have wiring diagrams and a running turboii to copycat from. If I use judgement and do not flail the thing it should be good for just getting around in. More hp than the present engine. If it turn out I like it I can invest in the turbo driveshaft and rear end. That was a very reassuring post of yours.

Well
It's been 3 months since the swap
We shall see how the NA tranny holds up when I put in the Cluthnet 4 Puck bronze clutch
my clutch was slipping a bit in that 13.9 run
One + for the Na flywheel is that it is lighter then the TII one
I do plan sometime in the future to use the TII tranny
but keep the NA flywheel

TII tranny and rear is great if you plan to use slicks and a
extreme shock clutch
neither of which I will use

I can hit 12's with the right setup
on plain street tires
