After a drive and shutting the car off I seem to hear a tick sound from the engine and goes away after a bit, and I'm just wondering if this is normal while it happens all the time.

I also hear a strange sound when the car idles. I had a mechanic look at the car and he says I need new belts, is there anything else that might be the problem?

This information does not help much but I'm going to get it audio recorded.

 

It's normal.
The ticking is the car cooling down.
More accurately, it's the sound of the hot metal of the engine contracting when it cools down.

I have this weird bulge in my pants....can anyone help me figure out what it is????

as for the ticks: is it a tick tick tick tick tick ( main relay ticks like that) or is it a
tick................tick.......................... .............................................tick? (what reted said, the metal cooling down....i hear this around the DP)

Squeeky belts, ratteling stuff in the trunk, etc.. etc..
