Throttle problems

I really hope there is some insight on this one. My '89 GXL was an automatic but as of like 2 years ago it was converted. Now my throttle response sucks and I know the throttle setups were different on 5 speeds and autos. I even noticed the differences between my '90 GTU (5 speed) and my '89 GXL (auto). I'm aware that there is a throttle delay and its ******* up my cars performance. Its as if the ****** wasn't opening all the way. When I open the throttle manually its like night and day as far as response. What do I have to do to correct this?

Sounds like the problem I had with my 88GTU, the throttle cable had streched some, so I just put a new one on. Just my $0.02

Thanks for the suggestion but its an issue with some extra crap on my manifold because it used to be an automatic. There is an extra lever and vacuum line not to mention some other crap.
