Throttle Body - removal / mod / clean Q's

I tried yesterday to remove the UM with the Tb attached and it did not want to budge. I removed the 4 bolts that attach to the Lower Intake Manifold and it did not want move.

1.What am i doing wrong??

2.Could I just take the TB off, without removing the UIM? (i saw the 2 top bolts but could not see the bottom 2)

I read also that the TB is designed to run dry

I was looking and the movement of the plates and the front plates are sticking.
I have to confirm the rear secondaries.

3. As for cleaning the TB , Should i strip it down if i get it removed and do a full clean ans re-assembly?

I am just thinking about removing the plates (good idea for a trial feel)

As well as the four nuts on the flange there's also one long bolt in the middle of the primary runners and one nut on TB.

Nope.

Correct, lubricants cause dirt to stick and gum up the linkage.

Are they stocking or are they just moving slowly? That's what they're supposed to do. It prevents the engine from stumbling if you open the throttles too fast at low rpm, at the expense of some throttle response. Removing the upstream throttles and linkage improves throttle response, but requires sensible throttle use to avoid the effect mentioned.

Clean it thoroughly inside and out with carb cleaner and then wipe it down. Disassembly isn't really necessary.

BTW, all that info in your sig and you don't even mention if you have an RX-7, let alone what year or model...

your LIM might not be coming off because of the brackets that hold it up?

I just removed mine.

Check out http://www.rotaryresurrection.com/

Look at S4 or S5 emissions removal. It shows how to remove the UIM.

Good luck!

I am also cleaning my TB. Removed the front plates, etc.
