Thread Rant

Is it just me or is the archive not really being maintained?

I have both read and written a lot of really good write-ups, which require nothing added to them, just to be posted on by 30 people and then passed on down the list to be forgotten.

Is this not what the archive is for? Has no one written anything worth keeping since february?

No doubt - I've done my share of good stuff too, especially my big emissions removal writeup. Not to mention there's WAY too many stickies right now that should be moved to the archives.

Any moderators out there?

Dale

I'm watching them, starting today...

I've got my own rants too.&nbsp I would like people to...

*Give better SUBJECT descriptions - I'm getting annoyed with the "Need help" and "something broke" subjects.&nbsp People, we are not getting paid to do this, and having better subject headers makes going through the posts a lot easier and faster for all of us.&nbsp You'd probably get answers faster!

I've turned down the mod position many time before, but the 2nd gen section is getting out of hand.&nbsp Hopefully, I can lend a hand to clean things up.&nbsp THIS DOES NOT MEAN I'M GOING TO GO ON A POWER TRIP ON PEOPLE WHO DON'T AGREE WITH ME. &nbsp I'm doing this more to get this place more streamlined - the posts have been getting out of hand!

Hopefully, taking this mod position will help out in here.

Oh this forum is going to be SOOO much better...

My beef: These thread/postwhore wars that get to be 5 pages after 2 days, and then continue to go on unchecked. Just because no one's breaking any rules in the thread, doesn't mean that it's not a total useless waste of space, and that it should be closed because it's not contributing ANYthing to this forum. Funny maybe once every two months, not twice every week.

Man, it's a little unstable up here on this soapbox, I wanna get down untill I've been around a lot longer to have some legiticy.

Steve

EDIT:
P.S. Btw Ted, I'm not sure if it's been implicitely expressed yet, but thanks very much for taking the Mod position. I know you've been avoiding it, and it's a lot of work, but I think we all stand to benefit from it greatly. I'm sure I speak for a bunch of us when I say, thanks for stepping up and working hard to make this forum better. I(we) appreciate it.

I really don't know how this all works...
You might want to contact one of the old timer mods for how this all works!
I just started doing this today!

No ****, I don't agree with Ted 100%, but his web site is one of the (if not the one) more informative sites out there when it comes to playing with the T2!!

Thanks,

You too Dale, and Scott, and others

Maybe someone can get rid of some of those rather useless stickies and put something useful up there?

Happy now?
I'll leave the other couple ones there for a couple more weeks, but the others had very little useful replies - they are all moved to the Archive.

Yea thats much better

Having so many stickies was kinda overkill since a few of them were quite old. The archive is a uch better place for them.

One of these days someone should compile a nice big newbie sticky with an FAQ, forum rules, and links to some vendors maybe.

Maybe ill have time to take a shot at it this weekend...

anyway..

I do appreciate your time in moderating this forum. Its nice to finally see a mod who is around to actually moderate

I thought anything with high stars was auto put into the archive? I guess not...

that's why I gave Dale's emission one 5 stars only one I've rated in like 6 months LOL...

Here's the problem with this: The owners of the board told us that we were to "ease up" on the generation specific sections. In other words, enforce the rules, but allow the chitchat. I agree that this section gets out of hand- it's probably THE most active section except the lounge, and I'm glad Ted is here to help out. I hope he doesn't get frustrated when he realizes how much work it is.

My problem is, as a "super moderator" I am not JUST responsible for one section- and this one takes a LOT of time to moderate... there is just SO much that goes on here. Honestly though, most folks here are pretty good about following the rules, (and I greatly appreciate that) so there isn't much that requires action- but there sure is a lot to read! I have to also watch other things (other sections) so I'm not as attentive to this section as I would like. Hopefully Ted can take up the slack.

And as for Ted- he has actually turned down being made a moderator before. So to say directly, Ted, I really appreciate you stepping up to help, we (the 2nd gen section) REALLY need it!

There is a limit to the number of "Primary" moderators for any section. I may have to ask them to remove me from the section list to make room for another. That doesn't mean I won't be here, it's just a slot that could be filled by a regular moderator that I'm currently "taking up." Super Mods can moderate any section, so having my name slotted into this one specifically isn't really needed- we just haven't felt the need to add a large number of moderators. We have had a couple of issues in the past, and are being very careful (i.e. PICKY) about who is made a moderator.

scathcart- I will pass your request on. I can't make any promises other than that. Each and every potential moderator gets discussed and voted on... I only have 1 vote.

Yeah... I threw his name in there along with yours. I dunno what the response will be there. We'll see. This section positively needs the help.

I'm trying to use my own two-week rule on these things.&nbsp It looks like the last useful reply was in the middle of the month, so as soon as November rolls around, I'll move it.&nbsp Can you wait a couple days?
