Question Thoughts on this FC... Should I consider buying it?

I've been scouring Craigslist for a good RX-7 FC NA coupe, and finally found one, but there are a few problems. It starts up after a while, but the seller says it's not compression, quoting it having 95 psi of compression. He then states it drives fine once it does start though. Also, it doesn't have a handbrake, but that, I suppose, is less of an issue, and should be a simple fix. What are your thoughts? Should I actually buy this car?

If it's not compression, what is the sellers explanation for the hard start condition?
*Hint: it's probably compression...*
Where did the 95 psi compression figure come from?

While the lack of a handbrake is indeed, "less of an issue" than that pesky "won't start" problem, you shouldn't assume it's an easy fix.
FC brakes are pretty simple and one has to wonder why the ebrake has not been fixed already.

You claim to be looking for a good FC and yet this one does not start and has defective brakes.
What would a bad FC look like to you?

The car is not running right now it takes a while to start

I started painting the car. Not sure if I'll be able to finish time is limited with work.

The chassis had some typical rust and rot along the rocker panels and floor witch I had plated with new sheet metal and undercoated 5 yrs ago I had no problems since

Figure the car needs an engine rebuild, rust repaired properly, and a paint job. A lot of work to be done to a $4800 car.

I'd pass on that one, unless they'll take a really, really low-ball offer.

Nope. There are much better FC's out there.

A bad FC would probably be one without a working engine. Thanks for the advice, so I'll probably pass this one up.

I paid 4200 for an S5 TII over 4 years ago, and it was bought with around 6k miles on a freshly built large street ported engine.

Keep searching.
