Think my coolant seals are going :( Please help
Today I went to start up my car after it was sitting for about a week, it took awhile to start just kept turning over but after a few tries of letting it turn for a bit it finally starts...so it was prolly flooded at this point.
Also for reference , I have no catalytic converter, just straight pipe in place and last time I did the oil change about 100 miles or so ago it had no coolant in the oil and no oil in the coolant and the coolant level doesnt go down, I've checked it numerous times (another indication that patmanxc theory is right on).
I proceed to let it warm up and it seemed to be smoking somewhat and waited to be fully warmed up up to proceed with revving it up to see if it is still smoking.
I revved it up in neutral to 4-5k Rpms quite alot, and it was smoking on decel...sometimes more than others.
My fellow rx7club member from on here patmanxc tells me that all of this is normal.
He said its normal because I didnt drive the car afterwords so it will still smoke from having been flooded and youll have to drive for about 10 mins stop it from doing so, but if it still does this after driving then you have a problem.
From Patmanxc - " what youre burning is most likely a mixture of gas and oil, when you flood it, it keeps the seals from sealing, so you suck some oil in, so you get this nasty gas/oil ****"
I think he sounds pretty much right on about that and it sounds correct to me.
I am just posting this on here to see what everyone else says because I'm very paranoid about things like this when it comes to my car, my car is my baby.

What color is the smoke coming from the exhaust? IF its blue its burning oil if its white AND SMELLS sweet (I.E. coolant) then your burning coolant. If its white and more of a "exhaust" smell, then your fine.

I think theres a thread in the archives on how to test out if the coolant is leaking at the seal. Do a search and you'll surely find it, but there are a few ways to test out if the coolant seals are bad (for peace of mind).
1. top off the coolant and burp the system (search)
2. when the car is cold, start it with the upper rad cap off.
3. observe if there are bubbles coming out of the coolant.
if so, this could indicate a coolant seal breach. Like I said though, do a search on it, and you will find the answers you seek.
