Think I found the answer to the rotary "Drone"

Been thinkin of a way to get rid of that mind numbing "drone" that my TII produces on the highway, even with the RB exhaust system, it gets annoying after about 5 minutes, ESPECIALLY with the windows up...

WELL..... being that the FC is set up for dual exhaust.. I was thinking, what if there was a way to divert the exhaust to a full baffled muffler while the car was not under boost, and then switch to a free flow muffler when you hit boost....

i THINK i found it.....

run a straight 3" back to this baby, then take it to a baffled muffler on the drivers side and to a straight through "fart can" on the passengers side out the valve...... the drivers side will still get some flow, albiet not that much since air takes the path of least resistance... but... WTF

Would mean making a custom "y pipe" but thats what winters are for!!!

Now..... what kind of mufflers could you used that would LOOk the same??????

Maybe supertrapps... being that you can baffle them differently. but they will still look pretty much the same......

I think you should use that device to completely block off the straight through muffler when not under boost.

i feel like i'm flying an airplane on the highway. hah. yea that's not the most efficiently designed piece, but i guess it would work. probably better if it blocked the baffled pipe though.

Why not just run it at the Y pipe to 3" back pipe with no muffler since it will only be activated at boost. That way you can have a resonator and a regular muffler on one side and the tips will look the same.

I would suggest a muffler cone (summit has them)... they are a perfed cone that kills off 12 DB or so without killing flow radically, instead of a custom dual single exhaust set.

years,
thats exactly why ATP turbo developed that. Good luck on it. Also I will post results of the full 3 inch exhaust I have now verses the full 4 I am building. I think the full 4 is going to reduce the sound alot.

What about having 2 fart cans, but the pipe to one has a baffled muffler on it, and the pipe to the other doesn't...

Now that custom muffler has some pimp factor!
So cool how he hid it inside the stock one and made it pretty straight through. I wonder what the noise reduction was?
