Would the 2 gen rx7 owners be interested in carbon fiber pieces like hoods, front fenders, side skirts, hatches and side mirrors.

if the quality is good.

I don't see how you'd make a CF hatch though.

You've gotta be shitting me.

About once a week somebody invariably posts on here about their pipe dream of making tens of bolt on CF and FG parts for the FC, and then as the process goes along, it almost never comes to fruition. The 2 cases that it actually has, that I know of, are dave @ fc3s.org and dltreezan. Everybody else just likes to blow smoke up each other's ***.

For that matter..dave, just last week, posted about his new CF hoods and sideskirts, and quite a few people on this board started talking **** about how they didnt like the product. And yet, here we have another one of these pipe dreams?

whats with this carbon fiber craze thats been going through the 2nd gen section. it is just the look. who cares man, why waste your money on this stuff. it may weight isnt much differnt and your just paying for looks. most carbon fiber parts are RICE. mostly becuase most of the parts on our car are light. we arent hondas that are made to get gas mileage which mostly dont car abotu weight so they need it, but most of them buy it becase of looks.

yo rotary resurrection what crawled up you but and died. I trying to bring this to a wide range of people to hear what they think. This may happen and it may not. This is not the only car forum that I asking this question on, but this is the most rude one.

The advantage of carbon fiber is it's lighter ( I know you guys know that) Because it's lighter you get better handling, better braking, bettere accelaration and for the street better gas milage. All these things will make the non-turbo guys faster when they run out of engine mods. If they still want to be emmissions legal. If you don't want to be emmissions legal get off my planet and find a new one to pollute.

Hey gergrx7 what if your not doing it for looks. But your doing it for the 200-300 ponds of weight the car just lost. Wouldn't that help out your 87 n/a in all areas.

For all you guys that gave me good feed back, thank you. For the rest of the juveniles, thank you for leaving a very good impression of the rx7 community with me .Makes me glad I sold me 90 glx.

hahaha, what are you going to make for our cars that will save us 200-300 pounds of weight? the hood? ok... sideskirts.... ummm not much there... the hatch...? not much there to replace, most of it is glass... although if we wanted to save weight we could take that out too... let's see... interior... the cf pieces that replace those plastic pieces... damn, that's gotta be a lot of weight saved there...

point is, advantages of cf is overrated as far as the scale that you're drawing it up to. anything that would make that much of a difference would cost too much for us n/a guys... part of the reason we are n/a b/c we are not willing to spend as much $$ on our cars...

and umm, i don't really care to be emissions legal... but if i were, are you saying that a better way to mod my car would be to get cf everything instead of getting a full exhaust setup? ummm.... and better yet, who the **** said it was your planet? why don't u go and spank yourself off on another planet??

and that is a great way to approach a new community... call us juveniles... that is real mature bud....

makes us glad that you sold your '90 gxl too... cuz that means we don't have to see as much of you anymore....

You seriously have to have been reading this forum daily for the last few years to have any grasp on new *products* people troll with. I don't bother getting my hopes up. Don't ask people, make a few, and if the interest is there well you have your answer. Otherwise, don't ask a question like that which has been asked before.

Just remember that 90% of the people who say they will buy your parts...will not buy them...

Thats just the way FC owners are.

I forgot who did the CAI kit for like 250. He had like 30 confirmed buyers and zero payments. Frankly some of this stuff is nice to have but just some of the younger owners just don't have the liquid funds.

the materials put into our interiors are very light, the only heavy stuff inside is the spare tire and dashboard. ive taken apart a few interiors and have found that mazda got the low weight of it all pretty damn well. the only really heavy piece that can be replaced on the body is the hood and its more practical to get an aluminum hood, a cf or fg hood doesnt weight all that much less than the aluminum one. since most fc owners arnt into looks alone i dont think there is much money to be found. so its not even fc owners being cheap, its we dont need those products to get a low weight, its already there in the stock parts. its better to spend the money on increasing hp than lowering weight to go faster.

who cares, let him do what he wants. 99% of the members here cant afford those parts anyways. Its only to your advantage if theres something resembling competition out there for similar parts.

its funny though, everyone (chime in if i'm wrong) is sick of the "i'm going to be building this i promise!" thread. i dont mind it from people who have proven themselves, though. in my opinion, it should be a "i just made this, what do you think? would anyone want to buy this? here's my pictures" thread.

I want a carbon fibre stereo surround. Not because it's light, or because it looks "cool" (I hate the look of carbon fibre), but becaue it will not break. I can then paint it to match the rest of the interior.

So you want him to put the time investment in without even testing the water?

No big deal, hes asking, if you dont take him seriously, dont bother taking him seriously. Hes not making any promises nor is his enquiry making ANY sort of an obligation to us.

I agree with aaroncake on this one, another thing that would be cool are cheap cf fenders, because mine are rusted to **** where they attach to the the car at the bottom. But that only if they are cheap. I'm not the type of person to spend 300+$ on CF parts etc. I think I speak for everyone when I say, Good fitiment at cheap prices.

They already sell a CF stereo surround Aaron. It's on the speedmachineshop webpage.
