Thermoswitch underneath passenger seat carpet (convertible)
Thermoswitch underneath passenger seat carpet (convertible)
...At least, that is what I was told it was at the Mazda parts department, today.
Almost two months ago, I pulled out the seats and carpet in my 88 'vert so I could take care of any rust on my floorpans. Underneath the carpet on the passenger side, near the transmission tunnel was a switch or sensor that I had never seen before. It had two wires coming out of it and was held down to the floor by two screws. I removed it and later on, sprayed rubberized undercoating on the floor. When I put everything back together, I screwed this thing down on top of the undercoating, instead of straight onto the floorpan.
Since I have put everything back together, my logicon is no longer working. Is this "thing" a thermoswitch and is it tied into the logicon? If so, is there any recommended procedures to test it?
TIA.

This is the "Exhaust Overheat" sensor. The catalytic converter sits under the passenger seat....If the sensor gets to hot, it signals the warning light in the idiot light cluster.
Not sure if this sensor has to be properly grounded though.
