Is there a fuse for both coils?

I rechecked the spark in my car and now im not getting spark from any of the plugs..
not too long ago i asked my buddie to put the batter back in my 7 and he hooked it up the wrong way.. so i replaced the 80AMP and that seemed to be all that was wrong.. before that i could start the car on occasion but not always cause it was flooding bad.. since then i havent been able to start it at all..

So yeah anyway, is there a fuse that is before the coils?

if not, well then whats teh deal.. I tried 2 sets of plugs, and all 4 have no spark.. I cant really see all 4 wires or both coils dieing at the same time.. so im thinking its there sypply.. somewhere

The forty amp fuse in the engine bay.

But even if that is good, it won't do any good unless the main relay is pulled in. There is a 15amp fuse in the interior that does that. Called ENGINE, I think.

Its hard to help if a fellow does not have at least a cheap digital volt meter. A twenty buck one from RadioShaq will do.

But that said, look in the car at the ENGINE fuse and make sure its good. If that's good, take a look at the fuses in the engine bay. The forty amp one feeds the 12v to the coils IF the MAIN RELAY pulls in. The main relay won't pull in when you go to START, unless the ENGINE fuse is intact.

The 40 amp fuse is in the engine bay and is the second one, counting from the inboard to outboard end of the box.

If you have a meter, you can go to the LEAD coil assy and you will see a small, white, two wire conenctor. It has a black wire with a yellow stripe. You'd turn the key to ON, then check to see if there is 12v on that black/yellow wire.

If there was no 12v on that wire, then if both the above fuses were good, you'd have to suspect the MAIN RELAY being bac. or the ecu being whacked

OK i checked on the inside and the 15 amp fuse was good.. but the thing is, is that there was a 30 Amp fuse in there.. which makes me think that possibly the if there was a surge it might have went through the fuse.. or something.. i dont really know..

ok i will look for a volt meter and see if i can get a 12 volt on that..

since its not the coils nor the fuses.. it might be the ECU? which is the computer under the pass side dash correct?

Well, you NEEEEED to see if there is 12v on the black/yellow wire on the LEAD coil assy. If its not there, and the forty amp fuse is good in the engine bay, and the 15amp fuse is good in the cockpit, then the next thing to look at is the MAIN RELAY.

You need to ask yourself if the MAIN RELAY is being pulled in when the key is turned to on. You can look at the jpg I attached and see that the 12v from the 40amp fuse passes thru that relay and then feeds the coils. If it does not pull in ........no coil voltage.

So. Go get in the car. Turn the key to the ON position. When you do this, listen for clicking noise from the main relay. Did it click? Now turn the key to off. Did you hear a click???

Now stare at the tachometer needle. While starting at the needle, turn the key to ON. Did the needle have any movement. As in rise about an eighth of a needle width and then drop back down??? Do it several times. Did it move at all???????

Note: The ON position is NOT the START position nor the ACC position.

A picture of the Main Relay is here: https://www.rx7club.com/forum/attach...postid=1291983

In a worst case scenario you could ring the wires out to the CAS using this jpg: https://www.rx7club.com/forum/attach...&postid=580160

And here's a jp I made with green dots showing how the pwr from the 40a fuse goes to the coil assy: https://www.rx7club.com/forum/attach...&postid=893365

Pour some engine oil in the intake right at the throttle body. Open the throttle when you do it. Then crank the engine over to circulate the oi around the apex seals.

Remove the bottom plugs and wash them off in gas/starter fluid, which ever. Put 'em back in and start the car up with everything connected up.

Sounds like all the oil has been washed away from the apex seals.

Really doesn't matter how you get the oil in the intake. Just get some in there and turn the engine to spread it around.
