... and then, the car started ...

Well I'm not sure how many of you read about my troubles with flooding this past week, but things have got ALOT better. I ordered some parts from mazdatrix, and had them sent overnight (expensive, but worth it) got the parts at about 9 in the morning. Decided to check my injectors to see if they were the problem. Read in my trusty manual that you can test injectors for leakage simply by securing them to there rails and setting them on a rag, the turn the car to the on position and put a jumper wire in the lil yellow two prong plug. This was a great way to show me that my injectors were fine, and my problem was elseware. So since this was the second time taking off the intake, I decided to do it the VERY right way. I replaced every hose on the intake, every gasket, even the one I made. Had the injectors professionaly cleaned, replaced every o-ring, used gasgasinch on all but the lower manifold gasket. I even replaced the radiator hoses, the thermostat and cap, the spark plugs, some jacobs wires, a shift ****, and a lower a-arm bar. I also installed a set of pineapple racing sleeves. After all of that the reason my car was not starting and flooding every damn time; was of course the battery. The damn battery had drained the first few times I tried starting the car before I realized it was flooded. I flooded the motor whenever I removed the injectors the first time, by not unpressurizing the system, and all of the gas just dumped in. It's kinda hard to tell your battery is low when the car is flooded because it still turns over just not fast enough to overcome the small amout of gas that is still in there. So I got everything working great now and the car runs better than ever. The addition of the pineapple sleeves made a small, but noticable difference in the 6th port area of the rpm range, but it REALLY smoothed thing out. Between the sleeves, clean injectors, new plugs and wires; my trip to redline is now smoother than a black top driveway covered in tire-wet. I think I'm gonna go drive ...

Yo,

Congrats man! You won't regret spending money on all that stuff, it'll just make your life easier in the future. The car will run better, stronger and keep your fingers crossed: you might even get better gas mileage! But the problem is, since it runs stronger, you'll be redlining it more, and your mileage will get worse. *grin* Happens every time! Glad your up and running!

The f'in car feels so much better now I can't believe it. I'm not sure exactly what had the most impact, but something that used to not be working so good is now working very good. If you like to tinker around alot and you have another car to drive for awhile, I highly recommend doing any of the things I mentioned above. I have some new found respect for the "weak lil vert" now. The only problem is that I have now reached the end of my modifications list. While most people can't wait to say that, it kinda bums me out. I won't know what to do with myself. I'm not really into body kits or wings. I don't even know if I want wheels. I really like the way a stock vert (lowered of couse) looks. The interior is already in mint condition. And the paint is still in great shape. I may just start a new project with my "bar car". It's a 89 mazda 626 hatchback; and I'm thinking about stripping it and turning it into a raly beater. It's got a good shell, and a good 2.2 in it. I just can't stop tinkering.....
