testing tps while on road?

can anyone tell me if it's possible to test the tps with the engine running, and driving the car around? This would be a good step to assist in my intermittent hesitation troubleshooting...

Locate the other ends of the TPS's wire at the ECU and stick your DMM's probes into the back of the ECU's plugs. Then you can view the DMM as you drive. Don't get distracted and crash...
