I don't see how this device would work since our cars have a mechanical speedo.

It's for electronic speedos only, which we do not have.

Overpriced too...

there's no good speedo shops around here, and there's no way I can stand how fast my speedo reads on my '88 SE.

What do you mean by:
"there's no way I can stand how fast my speedo reads on my '88 SE"???

Does that mean your speedo is wrong?
How do you know it's wrong?
You think the car is going too slow / too fast?

It's next to impossible to change the speedo output, cause the whole thing is integrated into the gauge itself.
Even if that crap you posted the URL to works, do you have the electronics backgroup to disassemble...modify...and then reassemble everything so it works again?

My speedo reads 7-13mph fast checked over a 4 hour drive down the turn pike against mile markers with a stop watch, and with my subaru running next to me. I don't know a whole lot about speedos personally, but I know some people who have rebuilt them. I love how you immediately jumped at the possibility that I just THOUGHT my speedo was fast.

There are professional instrument repairers who can recalibrate speedos. Look in the Yellow Pages.

What model of RX-7 do you own?
What size are your tires?
