Question Techsupport on Engine Light

Well, I need some feedback and some techsupport.

I just bought another 1990 GXL.

Here is what was going...

When I drive it, the "check engine" light is on and off (randomly flash) for few time. When I press Gas Pedal hard... it's rarely to see it on and off. I can really catch the light on and off just buy putting a little bit Gas around 3, 4, 5th gear in the freeway.

Someone told me to do the ECU diagnostic. I searched around the forum and didn't talk about the stock ecu diagnostic that much. I got a list of code but I don't know to how to perform the ECU error check.

Another thing for this car... the previous owner re-wire the electronic wiring...around the driver fender side under the hood. He created a button under the dash board so that he can have better "cold A/C". Well, down side of that is that I can't see my odemeter during the night and my clock after my I turn on my head light. My tail light is off. Once I turned the "custom" button beside the A/C button, the car is a little powerless during the idle time in the parking lot. If you give a little bit gas. It rev and stall. I found out that the previous owner re-did the pipe bypass the heater in order to have colder A/C. Stupid, huh?

Now, I try to fix them... 1st, my engine light, 2nd my wiring.

I don't know if you guys have wiring diagram... I really do need help on those two issues and please give me some techsupport.

thanks,

-M

Here's how to check the S5 ECU for error codes:

S5 wiring diagrams are here:

All you have is a flashing warning light. How's anyone going to guess just from that? Check for the code to find the problem.
