taking them racing stripes off...(pic)

I'm trying to get these racing stripes off, they came on the car when I bought it, now I want them off. I use the blow dryer to heat up the decal, but when i go to tear it off it comes off in little pieces, as you can see in the pic I've already started. I want to be able to grab it all at once.. maybe a chemical, or some kind of tool? Any suggestions would help.

Well, I'll tell you now you're going to want it re-painted....

I'll tell you what to use.

Goto k-mart, walmart, whatever.. and get "goo-gone" That **** is like magic.

Only problem... the vinyl has been "protecting" your paint... when you take the stripes off, its not going to match the regular color of the car if your paint has faded at all.

Good luck!

yeah, also being in a very sunny climate like florida will most likely have made your paint fade,so you'll have darker stripes under where the vinyl was. Take a razor blade to it. When I was removing decals from my car,I used a combo of both WD40 and nail polish remover with a razor or knife. Worked good for me!

Good luck with it,and that's a sick car!

only thing i can say, from experience, is not to heat the vinyl so much that it tears easily. problem is simply age, though. like our old interiors, quality decreases with age.

*note to self: cover entire car in vinyl to preserve and maintain a perfect coat of shiny paint.

Might want to try a bit of nail polish remover, this will not harm the paint if you still have a clear coat. If your clear coat is gone, try rubbing it on a un noticable part of you car to see if paint comes off. If it doesn't you'll be safe to go.
