taking seats out of the rex

How hard is it to take the seats out of the RX-7? I just bought some sweet *** seat covers and I think it would be best to take the seats out and put them on that way.

It's easy to take out the seats, that's how I did my seat covers. Four bolts attach each seat.

I can be bloody difficult - the front mounting bolts go through the pan to the outside and therefore have 12-14 years of corrosion - I broke one off and had to use an air driver on the other ones - be ready for a struggle.

re-assembly woes!

I had an upholstery shop take my seats out to do some work and they cross threaded/stripped 2 of the bolts on the drivers side!

Make sure they are lined up before cranking them down, probably best to clean the bolt and hole and trial fit them before putting it all back.

No problem getting them out. Putting them in was a bear. Have some spares if possible. Cross threading really is a big problem with those things.

It's no problem getting them out but what i would suggest is you replace the bolts. YOu can buy new ones for under 5 bucks. Why put rusted bolts back into your car it's just gonna make things more difficult for ya.
