tail light help.....

hey guys--I have an 86 GXL. The other night, I found that my tail lights do not work. I DO have everything else working, but the running lights don't. I also know that a couple nights before they were working fine. Turn signals and brake lights work fine. Any thoughts on where I should look first? I am just looking to see if there are any common or known problems that could be it--when I getmore time I will be tearing into it. TIA

could be the switch to turn them on... or it could be the CPU which is located in the drivers side kick panel... its a black box next to the fuse box

Please read the FAQ for FC at the top of this section. It covers this problem.

Thread closed as this question is coverd in the FAQ for FC sticky at the top of this page, and is very very common and would be found in a second if searched.

the CPU has absolutly nothing to do with the parking lights other than a warning beeper for when the lights are on and the door is open.

Please do not post unless you know... making stuff up or guessing only hurts your fellow members!
