T2 tranny automatic driveshaft question

iv searched and the information wasnt readily available so im hoping i can get a quick answer here.

im getting an 88 T2 tranny installed along with an N/A automatic driveshaft. doing this because the information i found in search suggest no problems for the most part.

my questions is this.

with that 88T2 tranny, does it matter what auto driveshaft i use? cant it be series 4 or 5 and/or do the years have to match up?

any info would be helpful, and any other info you think might be important to this venture.

thanks

Thumbs up Good question

I would guess either would work. But, my advice is to call Mazdatrix and ask. They have the issues around this conversion down pat.

www.mazdatrix.com (I think)

The Auto Driveshft will not fit. It is approx 2" short. Trust me I have done this.

I have an auto S4 Sports (Aust. Factory) model with a j-spec turbo engine and all is well so far. Its been going well for years, and my best guess is that it has a N/A auto and driveline! Go figure. Sure I wish it was a manual but at least its good for city driving!
