t2 ques

Looking at a 87 t2 in amazing condition, but they want to much. anyways when the car starts before it warm the idle isnt steady and goes up and down in a rythmic motion. Any ideas of what the problem is and could it be a serious problem?

Its a car with the idle set wrong, tps set wrong, fast idle cam and thermowax set wrong etc. Seems to be a normal condition for cars owned by people who don't understand their car and have some learning to do. Boy, was that crabby or what? Time to go finish up my wallboard project or pull weeds in the back yard.

Oh geez, I can't believe that people actually pay prices like that.

Excellent
"Excellent" condition means that the vehicle looks great, is in excellent mechanical condition and needs no reconditioning. It should pass a smog inspection. The engine compartment should be clean, with no fluid leaks. The paint is glossy and the body and interior are free of any wear or visible defects. There is no rust. The tires are the proper size and match and are new or nearly new. A clean title history is assumed. This is an exceptional vehicle.

Blue Book on an 87 TII in Excellent condition with 60K miles = $3,095 in my area.

yes yes 7900 is being rapped even 5K is ver steep, offer them $3500 and if they don't except, look for another on ebay, I found my 88TII for $2500 with a rebuilt engine with 30k on it, Cone filter, FCD, Midpipe, Cd player, fog lights, and no emissions.....an 87 "should" be no more than 2500 if the car has been driven as a daily, but if the body only has 60k I' would only pay 3k maybe 3500 if its in emaculate condition, have them fix the TPS then come back...
