T-T 89 TII Failed smog

Very bad...

Failed for HC (PPM) and CO (%)

HC=1217!
CO=9.97!

I think I am running rich but any there advise would help. Would a bad BAC valve cause any trouble? or could these just be because its running rich. Also running 91 octane

When you say stock, does it still have both converters in place along with the air pump attached to the main cat? Any changes in the engine, or completely stock?

That's the way to go. Drive gingerly, though. Fill up only 1/4 tank.

Is your airpump working if its not that will lower your CO numbers alittle bit high CO numbers is an indication that your running rich, plus if your airpump is disconnected your CO dont have enough O2 to convert to CO2(good) also you HC level so hihgh thats just a rotary there always going to be crazy cause of the oil burning. But high HC numbers also indicate a misfire, HC are unburnt fuel. I dont know if that will help but i have heard that the airpump is a most and alittle bit of alcohol always helps. I dont know how your car runs on 87 or 89 but that might help burn some of the fuel to lower the HC levels..... hehe we smogged my brothers 7 that he just got that has no cats and saw numbers up in the 1800 for hc, lowered slightly when the o2 sensor warmed up.... hey you should check if you o2 sensor wire is still intact and if your o2 sensor is working, both are cars the wire was broken.

do you have your egr blocked? your air filter dirty? fuel pressure to high? map sensor unplugged? all those will cause to run richer.
