Question Switching to high impedence injectors

Is it possible to take out the resistor block in an 87 and put in 89 injectors?

Yes. The solenoid resistor has one power wire coming into it, and four wires going out. You need to eliminate the resistor pack and splice all five wires together. Then install the high impedence injectors.

For splicing all 5 wire together, do you mean to take off the plug and splice all of them to get and put a cap on the end or what?

Never done it myself. Here is a jpg of the thing: so you would disconnect this whole thing and put it on the shelf. Then take the plug that is left on the cars wiring harness, and cut all five wires (if possible, leave a couple of inches of wire on the plug your are cutting off, in case you want to go back to the original configuration later). Now that the wires are cut, strip the wires back a bit and then solder all five together. Cover with shrink tubing.

Here is the schematic. See the green dots from the feed wire. See the four wires going out to the injectors. Those are the five wires.

Why do you want to switch to high Impedience?

Just to verify, for putting my 88 High-Imp. injectors onto my 87 Low-Imp. harness, I just need to solder together all 5 of these bastards?

you sure? ive been thinking (not switching imedance but bigger cc) about swapping to bigger injectors to compliment mods AFTER an EMS setup. thats a far ways down the road (next summer).. time/place of EMS installation permitting..

will it not change anything? are the stock s4 injectors sufficient even with an EMS and mild mods?
