Suspension techniques swaybar torque specs

i was putting on my ST swaybars today and when i got to the end link braket to bolt on the control arm the directions said to torque at 83 ft.lbs. well i did that and the thread on the bolt stripped has this happened to anyone else. cause i torqued everything else to what the instructions said but the end link bracket bolts just didnt hold up.

I could believe inch/pounds, but not foot/pounds. 83 lb/ft is way too much for that small of a diameter bolt. Generally you tighten them until the bushings are compressed to match the diameter of the capture washers, using locking nuts or double nuts.

It's a 12mm flange head, which means it's an 8mm thread diameter.
83 lb-ft is WAY TOO MUCH TORQUE for such a small fastener.

Can you double-check to make sure it wasn't INCH-POUNDS???
I think trochoid is right, or else you looked at the wrong spec.
It shouldn't be much more than 20 - 30 lb-ft.
