The question is how much are you willing to put into the car?

An 07 Vette is a monster target, but an autocross is more dictated by driver skill then car.

Autocross comes down to 90% driver, 10% car. I took a viper SRT 10 in my base model integra with nothing but some cheap coilovers and some good tires. The biggest banG for your buck handling wise in autocross is some good tires. Falken Azenis, hankook ventus RS2, etc. something along those lines.
As for suspension, try the FS forum here. For autocross you're going to want to go as stiff as you are willing, including sway bars. the less body roll, squat, and dive that you have, the faster your car is going to respond to inputs and have greater transient handling.
As far as what actual suspension to go with, I'm trying to figure that out myself right now.
