Surging? Misfiring? WTF MATE

Hey guys. So i noticed sometimes when I drive my car after its cold, it does this problem, and come to think of it, It may even do it warm as well. Lets say im crusing at a steady speed of 20 or 30 mph. Holding speed and idle. I can feel the engine surge and drop out for like a milisecond During that time the tach and speedo are holding steady. I think it might be misfiring but Im not sure. Anyone else have any ideas?

S4 GXL btw.

i have a 91 and when i sometimes go around that speed it seems like its surging. it doesnt tach up when i give it gas. it runs kind of spiratic. it will have trouble starting and i rev the hell out of it and its fine. but i only notice it does it if there is a dramatic change of temperature. like cold rain one day and sunshining hot heat the next. its wierd. car runs good now. but i onno.
