Supra-engined FC thread?
Anyone know what happened to that thread? I can't seem to find it anywhere, and I spent the last 20 minutes searching.
It was a guy who had a TT 2.5 four-banger, I'm pretty sure. Looked nice.
Anyway, more to the point, I was wondering if anyone had successfully completed a 4g63 swap. Don't ask...

Never mind, I managed to find it. But if anyone knows about the 4g63 swap, I'd appreciate info.

Generally transverse engine layouts dont work well when trying to switch to RWD. Basically because of the oil pickup designs. Im sure its nothing that a little re-engineering and a differently baffled oil pan couldnt fix though Id think the engine mounts would have to be completely custom, if you can find somewhere else on the block to attach them to. And what transmission could you use?

As is the case with many cool Japanese cars, the Starion came with a 4g63 in Japan. We got the crappy 2.6 turbo with single-point injection. So, there are guys out there who have swapped the 4g63 into a Starion/Conquest. It wouldn't be so far a stretch to think that this could be done on a FC.
AWD would be so sweet, but that would require some serious work on the FC, to the point it would be insane. But, man, it would be SO cool. Especially if you could do the twin-engine setup found on http://www.ecanfix.com/~manualcd/index2.htm
Transverse mounting would be almost too difficult. However, if you could mount it longitudinally, with a PTO, or transfer case, you could do it, with a seperate "rear end" for the front.
I think it would be cheaper to pay PFS to do a 20B swap, in the end...

Im positive that transverse mount would be next to impossiable with the stock hoodline on the FC. Its just WAY too low to fit a 4G6x motor in.
I think there is 1 or 2 people on DSMtalk working of RWD 4G63 FC's. Apparently with a junkyard bellhousing the turbo tranny almost bolts right on (the result of some mitso/mazda part sharing in the 80's/90's on stock minitrucks)
