sunroof tracks

My sunroof doesn't open. The motor runs and it will crack open the right side about 2 in' but the left side doesn't even budge. Ii obvious that its stuck, but what normally causes them to get stuck like that. I have read on this forum and elsewhere that the sunroof getting jammed was somewhat common issue. any info on this would be great.

Try pushing up on it when the motor is running..

Something similar happened to me, and thats all I did and it fixed the problem!

its a bad idea to use wd40 that attracts more grime. the sunroof has a chain on each side that runs through its own tube to the motor that pulls them through. the chains gum and freeze up pretty easy. the only real way to fix it is to drop the sun roof out and get the chains out of the tubes. then scrub the chains down, and swab the tubes spotless. then lube every pice of moving metal with lithium grease.

Suggest you look at this thread. I had the same problem. The key is a stuck sun roof because of crud is not a fix with only one person tapping/pushing from the inside. Read my comments on this thread. Good luck.
