Sunroof question booooooo

When I try to open my sunroof by pushing the button to open it it tries to go up but doesn't unless I push up on it. After I push up on it it will slide open and open fullly, and I can close it all the way right before it will go down and lock and it will open back up with no problem. But.. If I let it close all the way and try to open it I have to push up on it again to get it started. I sprayed WD-40 all over the tracks and basically all over and it still does the same thing. I dont know if the motor needs to be replaced or what. Anyone else have or had this same problem??? Please let me know thanks

btw WD-40 is not a permanent lubricant. It's good for getting stuff unstuck, but you should use light to medium oils to lubricate your sunroof assembly.

The lifters just around strong enough, IMO... sometimes mine will open by itself, sometimes it won't. To fix the problem you'd probably need to take the whole thing apart and clean it.

You can probably open it with one hand, but pushing the button with one finger, and pushing on the roof with the other fingers.

taking it apart and cleaning and lubricating all the parts is your best cheap bet (that's what I would do, in fact I have the same issue and I'll tackle it in that way). the absolute best way would be to replace any worn parts, especially all the springs and maybe even the motor...

My lifters won't work themselves, but after I get it started, it's good to go.

My sunroof has been the "one hand assist" model for a long time. One of these days I'll fix it up.

Only if you get the non-spray type and clean out *ALL* old grease. Otherwise, you might as well be peeing in it.
