Suggestions needed

Hello, im in the process of modding my first car and learning lots along the way. I have done a very extensive tune up, including changing ALL fluids, as well as thermostat, gaskets, and a few other misc' things.

As it stands now I have a almost stock 87 T2.

Mods so far have been:

Intake (adapter plate for MAF sensor and cone filter)
Boost and Water Temp gauges with dual gauge pod
breather on air pump intake tube

Anyway, I am very interested in modding my car. for my next mods I was thinking of doing a high flow exhaust system.

For this I would have a 3inch downpipe, to 2.5 inch straightpipe tubing all the way to the mufflers. No cats!
Doing this will allow me to remove the air pump (since its only job it to feed cool air to the main cat)

Now, in order to do this properly and not have any negative affects I will be porting the wastegate (HUGE port with welded on new flapper door)

Will I need to get a FCD?

I was wondering if any of you wise rotary guru's have any suggestions as to other things I should do, shouldnt do, blah blah... ANY ADVISE WILL BE APPRECIATED!!!

Thank you
