Sufficient for clutch job?

Would something like this be sufficient for replacing a clutch on an 87 NA? and if so, would i need 4, or is lifting the front of the car enough?

car ramps

i doubt that would be enough.. but it might depends how fat you are lol... basically the higher u get it the easier it is going to be... when i did mine i used similar ramps for the back stands and had the front high enough where i could sit up a little bit.

how did you get the front up that high?

The only other way i can think of getting the car up higher is using a few jacks.

Dude, ,

Go to wal-mart and get the 2-ton jackstands, get two sets, it'll cost ya like 30 bucks for both!!!

you have to put the front up a bit at a time.. you want the jackstand to be on the meaty part of the subframe (not the support braket under the floor pan, it will crush) you put the car on the stands with the stands at like the first notch up, once you get both sides up, then you can raise it higher, one side at a time. (if you try to go too high all at once, you could tip the stands when putting the other side up.)

the back is easy.. put the jack under the flat spot on the punkin and jack 'er up. i put the jackstands on the round rear subframe mount under the car in front of the rear wheels

and i assume i should just look for the highest jacks i can get?

On ebay i can get 4 3ton jackstands for sub-$20, but they only go up to 17" and i'm not sure that would be enough

Keep in mind that you only need jackstands that can support ~700lbs each.

did you notice in small print the "buyer pays shipping"

cause jack stands arent light and i cant imagine them being cheap to ship

Ive done it 3 times, and just used 2 drive up ramps a little higher then thoose for all of them,.. you only need to acess the fromt of the car, no sense lifting all 4 wheelss, the driveshaft bolts are the farthest back you'll go.
