Sub set-up in a FC
I was wondering if anyone had and links with pictures of someone's set up in there FC. I have a 90 GTU and am thinking about adding some subs but I want it to look good. I've only seen a couple of set-ups of using the spare tire space and some behind the seats, I liked it but I would like to know how to do it. So if anyone has done it before and took some pic's or if you know of any links explaining the set up and how to do it, so if you could post them that would help me out. thanks

I don't have a good pic of mine finished but I built mine for the trunk. it won't sound very good in the bins. the neons are gone cause they cracked... and I made a plexi cover for the amp. it took me a good couuple days to do it.

I would like to know more also. I'm not an audiophile by any means, but i would like more bass. The N1 that i have make the low frequencies hard to hear.
What about removable Bazooka tube, the nice ones
Free air 8"subs in the rear shock towers.
A single 10" box in the rear of the car. Also removable for the track days.
and last but not least, the storage bins. 10" or 8" lighter is better. Unless the 10 are way better than the 8, and the weight is worth the sacrifice.

you only use "MDF". I think I used 1/2". the thicker the better for sound (like 1") but also more weight...
it's 40" wide in the back, 31" in the front, is 25" long, and 5" high. (out side measurements) I don't know off hand at what lengh it cuts in at. and has a 19"x9" section for my amp. so it's 1.4 cubic feet inside.
if I were to do it again it would be different. the subs should be as close together as possible for sound.

So would you change the layout of the two subs and the amp or what. Do you have any pictures of building it? How much money did you spend on it in all. What else is in your car and how does it sound?

theft reasons. puting up a page stating what you have and exactly where you put it is pretty dumb. I know most people are hella far away but still you never know. there was a guy a while back with an FD that had all his info on his car as well as his alarm install info. his car was gone shortly after he put the page up. needless to say my page went down shortly after. Not that I have much to hide, I'm just parinoid. and as I said I don't like my box design anyways.
first you have to find what subs you want, then they will have a space rating of how big the box should be. so you can't design the box till you have the subs picked out. then you can start to measure and design.

I have two of the 6.5" bazookas and they sound the best of anything I have had in there. I tryed the MTX Thundercast and the Quarts and a couple of others. the tubs are the best for these cars.. I used the dual voice coil and a 100x2 amp running each coil in paralell to one side of the amp this puts a two Ohm load on each amp channel and getts me a little more power to the sub. I checked it with a sound level meter and got 147 Dbs. not going to win any contests, but still way above pain threshold.

Here's a couple of links that RLBRX7 suggested for the storage bin and removing everything behind the seats.

Bazoooooka!
I love my 10" Bazoooka I've got my amps in the passenger bin and the sub is strapped in the back with the stock straps that all RX7s have. Works great and takes me 15 seconds to remove from the car. Sorry.....no pics right now. If you want one I can take one and put it up....
By the way,
Scott 89t2, that is a very nice box you made!

Mine isn't quite as involved as the other guys set-ups. I have a 6x9 surface mounted in the lid of each storage bin, and 2 10s in a dual chamber box in the back, and pointed to the rear. The Amp is mounted on the floor right behind the storage bins. I know that puts it out where everyone can see it, but this thing is hella big. It sends 240 to each sub and 120 to each 6x9. I used to have a 10 inch Zooka tube, but the sound levels weren't balanced enough, too much bass for the wimpy 6.5s in the doors and towers to work with, that's why I went with the 2 way 6x9s in the bin lids...but then I had plenty of mid and highs and needed to get the twin sub to make it 100% perfect sounding. And the sub box pulls out quickly if I want to save some weight.
