Style/Roll Bar for Convertible

I've been searching the site and the web for a roll bar for an '88 'vert. I especially like the look of the individual hoops (one behind each headrest) but I'm wondering if these actually do add any roll safety and/or if there are any out there that really bolt to the frame/body and are not just style pieces that attach to the seats or something. Short of fabricating my own (a possibility, a friend has a machine shop in his pole barn), are there any kit options out there?

To the best of my knowledge the "style bars" are just that--appearance items. If you look at my website

http://www.cris.com/~Asam/20B.html

you can see a functional rollbar that bolts in. It's a custom-built piece from Mitch Piper at www.pipermotorsports.com. At the time of installation (1997), it was legal for SCCA Solo I, but not for racing. So far, it's always been accepted by tech inspectors when I've gone to DE events.

The only drawback to my rollbar is the brace that goes behind the passenger seat. It limits seat travel, so you won't be dating any tall girls.
