I have an '86 with the same problem. Driver side seat, and that light on the dash comes on when the belt is attached. Usually happens on bumps, so it must be a wire.

Ha ha! We were spared that whole auto belt debacle up here in Canada. Those things are an abomination!

That's a shame.

Well they weren't on any Ontario 7's and that's all I need to know.

I would guess bad solder joints in the CPU. Mine use to do that. Light would come on for no reason then go off again (no beeping). Resoldered the CPU where and no more problem. It also fixed the horn not working on on occasion.

Heres how to fix:
Remove the armrest console. That hoses the connector that sends the signal to the comp. If I remember right, its a six plug connector. Take a paper clip, bend it into a U shape and connect the two outside connections (top to bottom, it you are looking at it horizontally). Leave it unplugged. It will not buzz at you again. It will just reming you to buckle up when you start the car, but it will not turn on otherwise.
good luck.

Lifetime warranty?!?!?!
My dealership said there was never a problem with them and it would cost $800 to fix/replace the two!

It's the Auto Belt seatbelt connected sensor under the armrest. I replaced mine and that fixed the problem.
