damn that's bad news! for me atleast. i noticed my tranny just started to smell like that about a month ago.. so i replaced all the bushings. and all of my boots were in good condition. i was gonna also change the fluid in about a day or two aswell. cause it's gettin sticky in the cold cold night.. and the smell is still there.

NOW YOU GOT ME CHECKING UNDER THE CARPET?!!?! i can't do that!

anyways, here's the question. do you think hot tranny fluid could have gotten into my interior without the boots being burned like WKeene's?

bummer.

Here's what tipped me off that it was in my carpet. Try taking off the small piece of carpet around your e-brake arm. Mine was stained and stunk.

If you can heat it up...like with a hair dryer, you might be able to make it outgas if you can't see the oil.

Good luck.

good idea. i'll try that tom. i think i also didn't put in the shift lever all the way when i replaced the bushings.... i was in the middle of houston traffic, desperatly trying to get it into first with mad drivers behind me.... it felt like i was shifting a stick in an extra large cup of pudding... OOPS!
