stripped lim bolt hole

stripped lim bolt hole

Installing back the uim i realized that the bolt wont tightenName:  20131105_231403_HDR.jpg

I removed my uim to replace my primary fuel rail since it was leaking fuel
What would be the best way to fix this

Might be able to tap it. If there is not enough metal to get a good thread you may have to carefully drill it a bit bigger and install a sleeve, then tap it.

yep. Helicoil or something similar.


This:
Permatex Form-A-Thread Stripped Thread Repair Kit 81668

will also work... I've used it successfully in the past. You can find it at the regular parts stores.

I would tap it first then helicoil it. Usually a good tapping will clear it the issue.

I doubt there is space, but you can also drill it through and use a nut and bolt if there is enough flat space on the underside

Don't even bother to drill it.
just bring up a smaller size bodied bolt from the underside and nut it up top.
You just need the size to be slightly smaller than the actual hole with the "stripped threads" in it.Tighten it up.
Then you are done.

Doesn't even matter if it is standard size really,unless you are picky as no one would know anyways!
