Street porting question
Im looking to rebuild my engine soon, and was thinking of street porting it, I was wondering how much HP it would add, also would I need to install cats to pass emissions, and would I need to install a fuel cut off switch to avoid to much fuel flowing to the engine?

Street porting is making a streetable port from the ones that currently exist.
Think of your intake and exhaust ports (for simples sake) as little o.
o = stock port
O = street port
Now obviously, the street port is going to flow more. You do not need any device, and you do not need to upgrade your injectors. A FCD (fuel cut de....somthing) is used on turbo cars to trick the ECU to see only 8.6psi of boost at max. Since on your profile, you listed NA, this doesn't apply to you presumably.
If your in the People's Republik of Kalifornia, you will need cats to pass emissions.

Well over here in Australia we have different types of porting
1st there is mild port, or what we call a turbo port, used to flow a bit more,
Then we have what it is an extended port where until recently I was told that it was the biggest you could go with a turbo motor.
Then there is a bridge port, kind of sounds tingy like a lawn mower, I was told you cannot turbo a bridge port motor but this is not true....it can be downe ive seen with my own eyes.
Then the big ***** periphial port, where the existing inlet port is filled and a monster 2.5 port is made straight in the side of the rotor housing. These engines will not idel under 2500rpm and have a very rough idel power starts to come on at around 7-8000 rpm and are capable of reving to 14-15000rpm. These types of engines will not meet a emition standards for your country. They also require min 6mm apex seals. They can be Turbo, capable of running 7 sec pass down the 1/4 mile. VERY EXPENSIVE, VERY LOUD, USES LOTS OF HI-OCTANE FUEL and CAR ROCKS SIDE TO SIDE VIOLENTLY AT IDLE!

PS: The FCD thingy you talked about is called a Fuel Cut Defender, basically it cuts fuel and or spark (dont quote me on this) to the 2nd rotor when over boosting on a standard computer at about 7000rpm in 3rd and 4th gear. You dont need it....mazda put it on as a fail safe item and so you just unplug it.....there is also another one for 190km/h cut out on jap import cars. Very annoying! Cant find the second one yet. My car hits 190 cutout in 4th gear still pulling, and still another gear to go.

PPS: Just buy an after market computer.....like I am doing. Microtec MTX 8 is a good start with a hand set. ezy good for a low 10sec car. Sell in OZ for bout $1000 aus......cheap? Worth it I say!.
