Strange lighting problem

Okay guys, here is the deal. Today my interior light started to act up. While I was inside BK taking a dump, when i came back out. I started the car and turned on the lights. I noticed the interior lights dont light up as bright as it should. After i rev it a few times, it ran away. Then I drove a block across the street to get gas. This time the light dont even turn at all after i start it. I drove like that for 15 min until it light up again. Drove home with no problem. Just a few minutes ago, i went down to turn on hte parking light. It seems to light up real little, then a few sec later it would light up fully. What do you guys think it is, my headlight switch going to crap to bed?

Ill refrain from mentioning the obvious tendancy tward making fecal references, but its probably a loose connection at the battery, or that one wire and bolt at the top of your alternator.

You might also check your battery for low water.
Its possible.

No no no no no. It's not the charging system. Leave your battery alone.

I was through this two summers ago. The contacts inside the headlight switch are wearing down. Soon your headlights will stop responding as things deteriorate further. You can either pull the switch and open it up and try to either replace the contacts or beef them up (I've heard that the contacts can't be switched out and I don't know of anyone who's done it) or you can replace the switch. Go to a wreckers if you decide on replacing it - OEM will run you about $300!

It wouldn't hurt to also check the harness that goes from the switch to the CPU - ya never know.

Consider opening the switch. The surge that cooked the plug may have done damage inside the switch...

Headlight switch going is almost as common as the windshield wiper switch that doesn't switch the windshield wipers!

Find a switch, or try and clean up the contacts. IF you clean it- PUT DIELECTRIC GREASE ON THEM AFTER! It will prevent further corrosion.
This goes for wiper switch fixes too. It'll make the fix last years instead of months.

My wipers still work, however I suffer the dieing light switch, my headlights work all the time, but my interior lights just go out on me every once in a while. Were your burn marks right at the switch?
