Stockl Boost Guage
Hey, I'm trying to set my boost to a reasonable level with a manual boost controller and an autometer gauge. I'm not sure exactly how accurate the guage is though. When I hit an indicated 6 lbs of boost on the autometer, the stock guage doesn't even pass 0 (it rises, just no higher than 0). It doesn't feel as fast as I would think it should either. So my question is where should the STOCK guage be reading at full throttle? right in the middle maybe? thanks for any advice

ugh, forget about the stock guage. It's pretty worthless. If you get 6 lbs on the autometer and the stock one barely goes higher than 0, then something's definetly wrong with your stock guage. I can't describe where it should be at, but it would definitely be higher than 0 at 6 lbs. It should be like 4/5 up or more at 6 lbs.
Anyway, just forget about the stock gauge because it's so vauge. Autometer may not be the best guage out there, but it's not too bad if you install it properly.

I highly do not recommend the Autometer boost gauge. The one I have reads three psi high. They ain't accurate the best I can tell. I took a vacuum gauge I have had and connected it to the same tee as the autometer. Turned the engine on. Now I know I'm just reading vacuum, but the autometer gauge reads 13 in/hg while the shop gauge reads 16, meaning to me that when at full boost, the autometer is probably 3 in/hg high. Explains how I can read a boost of 10psi and not hit fuel cut. Damn waste of money. Stock gauge with the key to on and engine not running reads b/t -20 and 0. If I patch a n/a boost sensor in the gauge goes 3/4 the way up the scale. So I put the turbo one back in and now it reads just a c...t hair from zero. Joggled something inside the ECU and gauge I suppose. Turn key off and back on and back to halfway b/t -20 and 0. If I were loaded with dough, I'd buy a new boost sensor because I think the factory gauge would read closer to zero. Diaphrams get less flexible with age. Anybody wanna buy a cheap Autometer gauge, and I mean cheap in both senses of the word.
