Stock turbo problems

I have a 90 Turbo and just tonight it started sounding like the turbo was in my lap and not under the hood...Everytime I step on it the turbo gets really loud...Its a 'wooshing' sound. Its not boosting to 10psi like it usually does...I have an FCD and a bonez intake, thats it. Any suggestions as to what it could be, PLEASE HELP!

damn 89GTUs, i have the same sound, it sounds like the turbo is bypassing some of the boost pressure out somewhere. its like a whooshing sound when it hits about 9 psi with my manual boost control all the way up. if i turn it a little over 1/4 of the way down the sound goes away when i hit 9 psi.

you need to check for leaks. Look around the ic couplings, make sure they arent popped off. You can also pressurize the intake system with an air hose or your lungs and listen where the air might be escaping.

That is a good idea to get compressed air in the system. Maybe I could test my setup and see if it will 80psi of boost

If you have the wooshing and only get 9 pounds, and then turn it down, and still get 9 pounds, but no wooshing, then it sounds like something is leaking when it hits 9 pounds. You are probably overboosting your turbo to like 14 pounds or more, but it's all leaking out and showing only 9. This heats the air a lot, which is a bad thing for all components involved...
