Stock Rear Speaker Size In 89' TII?

The kid who had the car before me put in his own audio stuff which is clearly not stock by the way its mounted. I'm not sure if what he has was either bigger or smaller than the stock speakers in the rear, so I figured i'd just ask.

its probably bigger. the s4 size is 5", im not positive that its the same for s5s. a lot of people put 6.5"s in there though.

One more thing, i'm assuming there was an upgrade that you could have that gave you the two door speakers, because it seems like that is a spot for speakers, but mine doesn't have any. Eithere that or the kid who had it took them out. In either case, what size would the door speakers be?

Be aware that the speakers have external amps, if you put new speakers in with a new head unit make sure you remove the amps and rewire it straight from the head unit.

6.5's fit in the doors

There are also 2 speakers under your dash, the door speakers have a low pass filter so they only play bass, the underdash and rears are "full range," or at least considered such.

The amps are already long gone, as well as the door speakers, and the 4" dash speakers.

8" is actually the hole size in the rear, but it's hard to find 8" full range drivers, they're usually subs at that point. If you want to fit something smaller in there you'll have to fab up an adapter plate to seal it. I had 6.5 coax's in the rear and I actually found that I got better sound with the stock 5" pieces of junk from the factory. I just couldn't get my head unit dialed in with the coax's.

I may find some home audio speakers with 8" drivers, take the crossovers out, and run them back there only doing the lows to have a sub effect without a big stupid looking box back in the hatch.

stock is like 4.5" or 5". 6.5 fit good. I think 8" would be hard to mount.

8" fits perfectly in the rear shock tower holes (obviously providing you remove the original steel insert from the factory that held the 5 or 6" ers.
