Stock clutch OK?

I have a 91 NA. This car is stock and a daily driver. I can get a clutch kit (PP, disc, TO bearing, and input bearing) from the dealer for $175. My funds are extremely limited and this seems like a steal. Is there any reason to shell out more for an ACT, CENTERFORCE, etc?

Since its a stock daily driver, you have no need to upgrade to an aftermarket clutch. Especially if youre low on $$$.

Probably not. If you had the funds I would say go for it, just because I feel its best to upgrade while replacing things, but the stock one should do just fine. On my N/A, with intake, header, full exhaust, reprogrammed ECU, etc etc... my stock clutch was holding up just fine. Never slipped on me, and still chirped 2nd and 3rd gear.

For the record the stock clutch will not hold up with intake, ported IM, full exhaust, and a streetported motor. Especially with drag launches!!

If you really care about your car, just buy oil, spark plugs, air and oil filters at your local autoparts store.

Thanks for the input. The quote I got for $175 was from a Mazda dealer. This price seemed low to me, but the parts guy insisted that was the price for a OEM RX-7 clutch KIT.
