Stock Boost Gauge

Hm...i just read up on this...so i'll make a new topic...

if my stock boost gauge works only once in awhile...i am in trouble? I noticed someone said that

This could be a bad sign. The pressure sensor is also used to tell the ECU how much you're boosting, and alters ignition timing accordingly. If it's a problem with the gauge, just replace it with an aftermarket one as the stock one's not worth fixing. If it's the sensor, get it fixed ASAP, as you risk engine damage running at full load like that. If you haven't found it yet, it's bolted to the front side of the RHS strut tower and has "pressure sensor" written on it. It has one 4-pin plug and one vac hose, both on the bottom.
Could this somehow relate to my recent coolant leak? I found the hose...a big tear in it...i'm getting it replaced...

shoot...i was gonna buy a boost gauge this week since mine isn't working...I figured that the stock was just old...so it can't sense...heck...even every once in awhile my rpm doesn't work...Can all of these really screw up my engine?

Do you think it would be ok if i just get a aftermarket boost gauge (apexi~!)...and see if it works...and just worry if it doesn't work then?

thanks guys
Yivan

I had a similar problem with my '87 TII. It had low boost pressure some times as indicated on the factory gauge. Nothing I did seemed to fix it. I removed the guage cluster, cleaned the contacts for the boost pressure gauge and tightened the screws. Now the gauge works perfectly.

Yep, sounds more ilke a gauge problem...
You MIGHT feel a little diffenerce in engine operation when it cuts on and off if it's the pressure sensor, and there is also a good chance the check-engine light MAY come on...... Also- if your tach goes off sometimes too, it definatly sounds like bad connections on the back of the gauges.
