Sticky throttle

I just bought a 1987 N/A RX-7 and while driving it home I noticed that when I would shift to a higher gear the engine would rev up a little and then back down. It also jerked a little bit when driving but not when accelerating or decelerating, is this normal? I'd appreciate any info you can give me.

as for the revs going up. either you clutch is worn. or you suck at shifting

Drive down the road in 4th gear. Take your foot off the gas, then press the clutch. If the RPMs drop without spiking, then Scott is right, its your shifting. Your probably disengaging the clutch before you let off the gas. You suck, get better

the jerkiness MIGHT be caused by the tps, though, guys- at least give him a little benefit of the doubt...

The only way I can get it to not do it is if I let off the gas and give a second and then push the clutch in and that's slow so I don't want to do that. My Civic doesn't do it so I know it's not my shifting

the clutch is probably burnt. mine does that as well. need new clutch and flywheel or at least a resurfaced one.
