Sticking Caliper
I just got a 1986 RX-7, and one of the rear caliper's is sticking. The car has just been sitting for about a year, and it runs fine, except for the sticking caliper.
Does anyone know any quick fixes for this?? Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Hey wait....don't do that...Mazdatrix sells rebuild kits for $25 and that will rebuild BOTH rear-calipers. Now you might be thinking, how the hell do you rebuild a caliper? Its is EASY AS HELL. I had no clue until I read through my haynes manual and bought the rebuild kit. Its just a matter of pull out the stuck piston in the caliper, cleaning it up, replacing a few rubber seals, lubing it up and putting the piston back in. And your rear-calipers will be good as new. If the rear-piston is stuck, then the dust boots and seals are probably shot, and the resulting dirt and crud that will be in the caliper might make getting the piston out pretty hard. You have to turn it to get it out. Goto an auto-parts store and ask for a tool for removing calipers. The tool that I have is a little cube, that fits on a socket wrench. Each face of the cube has little ***** on it. You just gotta find which face of the cube has ***** that fit into the little niches on the piston in the caliper. It will make sense once you take a look at the piston and the tool. I actually took some pics of the rebuild. PM me and I will try dig them up for you. They came out pretty blurry though.

Glad I could be of service. I almost went out and bought new rear-calipers too, until somebody told me about rebuilding the calipers.
