Stereo Surround Trim

Anyone know if a 1990 Mazda RX-7 GTU stereo surround trim ring will fit a 1988 Vert? If so will I need to change anything else of will it just snap in?

Thanks

Trent

It will snap on, but the size of the opening for the stereo is smaller on the 90 radio surround. Could easily be cut out to fit though.

Using the S5 radio surround; the shifter surround will not match up correctly (you can kinda force it in, but it still will not line up perfectly on the sides, if you do not have a S5 shifter surround), and the vent grills are different. If you have the stock radio it will not fit at all through the radio opening on the S5 dash.

The other thing you may find you do not like the way it looks since the S5 surround sticks out considerably further and does not match the dash design comparied to the normal s4 surround

BTW, could you use an S5 shifter bezel from an automatic on a manual? Could an aftermarket shift boot be adapted to fit?

After reading the first response I sent the cash to purchase the 90 model ring. If what you say is true Mark looks like I will have a 1990 stereo trim ring for sale.
Should have been more patient...
